This year starting on the 4th (opening ceremony) – 15th (closing ceremony) April 2018, the Gold Coast is facilitating the Commonwealth Games. GC2018 is expected to attract more than 672,000 visitors as well as 6,600 athletes and team officials from 70 member nations and territories. Carrara Precinct (Fig1.) have been chosen as a main venue for opening and closing ceremony as well as holding athletics, badminton, wrestling and weightlifting over the course of 11 days. As KDV sport is located within the venue perimeter of the Carrara Precinct, we will be affected by the traffic (Fig2.) and the operations, however, KDV Sport will be open throughout the duration of the games and use this opportunity to welcome new guests and promote the venue to a world-wide audience.
There will be a range of temporary changed traffic conditions in and around Carrara in the lead up to, during and after GC2018, including road and lane closures, speed limit changes, changes to parking and load zones. On entry to the Chisholm Road car park all entrants will be screened by our security team to ensure they are our genuine customers’, only those that are coming in with a purpose to use the facility will be granted access through Chisholm road
KDV is organising 3 – 4 security to be present during and after the operational hours,
1 to be stationed at the gate of the Chisholm road (procedure will be set in place for reception and the security to ensure it is KDV customer that is parking at the Chisholm Road)
1 to be stationed at the entrance of the Nerang Broadbeach Road
1 to be stationed at the entrance of the KDV sport building (to coordinate capacity of the building, check for theft and ensure safety of our staff)
1 to be on patrol to attend any safety measures and control the over crowd

Overview:A new KDV initiative to help keep kids active after school in our ‘Get Active After-School Program’ located in the KDV Kids Club. Our program differs from normal OSSHC centres as we are lucky to have access to the Gold Coast’s premier sports facility. KDV Sport has 20 tennis courts, 3 padel tennis courts, pool, golf driving range, 18 hole mini golf course, basketball hoops, mini soccer field and kids playground.

The cost is only $25 per afternoon. 10% sibling or multiple session discount applies. It is just like a mini holiday camp after school . The kids will love it!

Overview: Designed for kids aged 5-12 (from prep through to year 6) using modified equipment to make learning easier and more fun.Sessions run before or after school at your school court or sports play area as a convenient option for time poor families. Our school based coaches follow the same Tennis Australia approved Hot Shots coaching program as we do at our main base KDV Sport. This program also feeds back and links in with our club program and players are taught everything from how to serve and rally to then following on with match play and team competition.
Alternatively, another addition to the KDV Kids Tennis coaching program is an after school bus pick up service which can pick your child up from school, transport them back to KDV and put them into a tennis lesson in our club based program. For more info on our after school bus service click here.

Overview: Choose 2 squads from the above times. These are full court yellow ball squads for players in the yellow program that want to develop their game to the best of their ability and possibly move into more competitive squads, fixtures and tournaments in the future. There is a minimum playing ability required (assessed by our professional coaching team) with some coaching and playing experience necessary. It is recommended that players in these squads are taking some private lessons in conjunction with the squads as well as playing in regular inter-club fixtures team matches.

Overview: Our Blue Stage program is a launch pad and helps to familiarise children with the size and bounce of a Red Hot Shots court and ball while focusing heavily on improving their fundamental and perceptual motor skills. These skills are essential as children begin to move into Red Hot Shots and beyond.

This program has a selection criteria based on an assessment from our professional coaching staff. The green plus program is a launch pad into the KDV Performance Tennis program. Overview: The green ball program runs on the full court size using slightly softer balls so the bounce is not quite as high and the rally speed is slightly slower to again make learning easier and more fun for the kids. The general green ball program does not have any minimum playing standard and kids can join the program at any time during the year. At this stage players are taught all areas of the game both technical and tactical and guided into hopefully playing in regular inter-club fixtures or in-house match play sessions.
The KDV green ball program also includes in-house match play sessions as a free addition to all classes and gets the kids practicing what they learn in their lessons against other kids from the club in a fun, coach supervised, team environment.
As a follow on from our Orange Plus program we also have a Green Plus program. This program is designed for the more competitive green ball player. There is a minimum playing level required for this and it is expected that players are having regular private lessons and competing in regular individual and team tournaments & events. This program has a selection criteria based on an assessment from our professional coaching staff. The green plus program is a launch pad into the KDV Performance Tennis program. Overview: No minimum playing standard required and kids can join the program at any stage through the year. Played over the full court net with the baselines brought in a little closer towards the service line, the orange ball lessons make learning easier and more fun.
There is no rush to move kids out of orange ball to the next level. Sometimes they may stay in the orange level for up to 3 years. It is important that kids learn all aspects of the game in an environment that is suited to their size and ability. Our orange stage is also includes regular in-house match play. This is a free addition to all classes and gets the kids practicing what they learn in their lessons against other kids from the club in a fun, coach supervised, team environment.

Overview:This is an entry level class where kids will learn the basics of tennis including rallying,basic scoring, serving and understanding how to compete. Perfect for all kids aged between 5-8 years old of any level. Kids can join at any stage through the year. We grade the classes with lesson plans to help progress the kids and find their level.There is no rush to move kids out of red ball to the next level. Sometimes they may stay in the red level for up to 3 years. Overview: Blue Hot Shots is ideal for children between the ages of 3 and 5. It is a Fundamental Motor Skills program based around the basics of movement, balance, and coordination, throwing, catching and striking.
